Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for October 2027 admission
The Discovery Program for Global Learners will select several applicants who are accepted through the October 2027 admissions process, meet the eligibility requirements, have outstanding academic records, and achieve excellent screening results.

- 3. Scholarship Coverage
●Application fee
●One-time admission fee
●Tuition fees
●Monthly living allowance (117,000 yen per month)
●Airfare to and from Japan (only at the beginning and the end of the 4-year undergraduate program)
*Applicants who are already residing in Japan will not be provided with airfare.
- 4. Eligibility
An applicant must:
・Be prepared to enroll in the program if they are accepted.
・Be a national of an ASEAN or African country.
*Japanese citizens with dual nationality are not eligible.
*In principle, the MEXT Scholarship is intended for students from ASEAN and African countries, but this may not apply in all circumstances.
・Be accepted through International Admissions for October 2027.
*Applicants for the April 2027 intake are not eligible.
・Have been born on or after April 2, 2002.
・Not be currently enrolled as an international student at another university in Japan.
・Not enroll as an international student at another university in Japan from October 2027 onward.
・Not have previously received a scholarship from the Japanese government.
・Not receive any other scholarship from the Japanese government from October 2027 onward.
・Have attained at least CEFR B2 level in English in all components or JLPT N2 level in Japanese.
・Be willing to contribute to promoting mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and the applicant’s country during their studies and after graduation.
- 5. Academic Record
・A GPA of 2.30 or higher at the time of application
・Maintain a GPA of 2.30 or higher upon enrollment
・The scholarship will be suspended if the GPA falls below 2.30.
GPA calculation method
Applicants should calculate their own GPA at the time of their final academic year or the curr*ent academic record, according to the calculation method described below.
Firstly, applicants should determine ‘Assessment Point’ based on the table shown below, and then calculate by applying the formula indicated in the table below.

(Note 1) If a credit system is not used for the lectures/classes registered, the number of completed subjects will be calculated instead.
(Note 2) Grades not listed in the table above should be excluded from this calculation.
- 6. Selection Process
The MEXT Scholarship recipients will be selected from the top successful applicants, based on their performance in the admissions.
- 7. How to apply
On the application form for admissions, you will be asked to indicate your interest in receiving a scholarship by answering the following question.

(e.g., JASSO Scholarship, Discovery Scholarship, etc.): Yes / No
If you answer “YES” for the MEXT Scholarship, you will be asked to submit a brief statement about your proposed community activities in Japan to promote mutual understanding between your country and Japan. This statement must be submitted through the designated form before your admissions interview.
Applicants must submit all required documents in accordance with the application guidelines issued annually by the MEXT. Any missing or incomplete documentation may result in the applicant being deemed ineligible for consideration.
- 8. Final Approval by the MEXT
The university will advance the names and applications of the applicants to the MEXT for final approval.
