First Batch of Students Begin Discovery Program for Global Learners

On September 29, Okayama University’s Discovery Program for Global Learners held a welcome reception for the first batch of Discovery Program students at L-cafe on Tsushima Campus. Thirty-one students, who joined the program from sixteen countries (Canada, China, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Nepal, Russia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, USA), were selected from 78 applicants for International Admission.

Okayama University’s Executive Vice President for Education Hiroshi Sano, Executive Vice President for International Affairs Hiroshi Kanzaki, and Director of the Discovery Program Ayami Nakatani gave welcome messages to the students. Discovery students introduced themselves, expressing excitement and enthusiasm about the beginning of college life at Okayama University. Students, professors, and administrative staff enjoyed the opportunity to become acquainted and get ready for the very first academic term of the Discovery Program and the journey to discover new ideas and future paths.

The Discovery Program is a four-year undergraduate degree program started in October 2017. The program will accept another 30 students through Domestic Admission in April 2018. Visit the Discovery Program website for more details.
